Barcelona

I don’t usually do this sort of thing but I figured I should try making some notes on my cruise trip so I can remember it. I’ll try to update it as often as I can just for my purposes and maybe someone else will find it interesting (vanity, I know). I left New Jersey at around 5:30pm Thursday and started my flight to Frankfurt, Germany before moving on to Barcelona. We took Lufthansa and I gotta say, the service was impeccable. We had some delays, but the crew was really nice and the in flight meals were the best I’d ever had on a plane and I’ve done a good bit of international traveling. One thing I thought was a really nice touch was the complementary wine and beer in flight :-D. We finally got to Frankfurt an hour and a half late and missed our original connecting flight so after standing in line at the passport desk for 20 minutes we had to make a mad dash from one part of the airport to a section almost a mile away. That was fun after sitting down for 7-8 hours :-(. However, Lufthansa had already automatically scheduled us on the next available flight and transferred our luggage, so it wasn’t too bad. Once we got on the second plane I finally got to relax a little and take a short nap. We got to Barcelona around 12 noon and managed to catch a cab to our hotel. The Hotel Avinyo is a really cool and “hip” new hotel that just opened this month in the city center of Barcelona. When we got to our room my brother and I took a few minutes to figure out how to turn on the lights. Apparently you have to put your door card key in this slot by the door before any of the electricity in the room works. I think that’s really smart from a power conservation perspective. So now we’re just relaxing for an hour and soon we’ll be hitting the streets and taking a look at some of the sights. I’ll post more later after we’ve gotten around.
